The Buck Institute for Education (BIE) is a not-for-profit 501©3 organization dedicated to improving 21st Century teaching and learning through Project Based Learning. BIE is the author and publisher of the Project Learning Handbook: A Guide to Standards-Focused Project Based Learning for Middle and High School Teachers used by over 30,000 educators in 49 American states and 28 other countries. Currently, the BIE PBL Handbook is available for purchase from publishers in the US, Brazil, Taiwan, China Korea, and soon, Costa Rica. BIE has offered Project Based Learning professional development workshops for secondary school teachers and other educators since 1999. During that time, we have conducted over 240 workshops involving approximately 5,000 participants.
BIE lead the creation of PBL-Online.org, a multi-media website featured in a recent publication by the International Society for Technology in Education, Best Web Sites for Teacher Tools and Professional Development. The PBL-Online site has been translated into Spanish (sp.PBL-online.org) and Mandarin (cn.pbl-online.org).
