Stephan Turnipseed, president of LEGO® Education, North America, was elected to serve as vice chair. Dzana Homan, chief operating officer of Goddard Systems, Inc. was elected as treasurer, and Susan Adelmann of Follett Software, P21’s newest member, will be the new secretary.

“I look forward to leading P21’s efforts to ensure 21st century readiness remains a priority within the education reform movement. The importance of 21st Century Skills in preparing students to lead in college, career and citizenship has never been more important,” said Frank Gallagher upon accepting the Chairmanship. “I am also excited about P21’s newest initiatives in 21st Century Learning Exemplars, and 21st Century Citizenship.”

The 21st Century Citizenship initiative will engage multiple stakeholders, raise public awareness and develop a research agenda identifying connections between 21st Century Skills and the 4C’s of Critical thinking and problem solving, Communication, Collaboration, and Creativity and innovation as they relate to improved civic outcomes.

The Exemplar Program will highlight and showcase exemplary 21st century learning across P21’s leadership states.

“P21 has done a remarkable job of laying the framework to drive a common understanding of 21st century skills with examples that are actionable for a wide variety of education stakeholders,” said Adelmann on joining the P21 Executive Board. “At Follett, we see the fingerprints of P21 every day in the information literacy and critical thinking that are the hallmarks of our customers' libraries, learning centers and innovative classrooms, as students become digital learners prepared for success in an increasingly complex and competitive world.  We are honored to support this important work.”

Follett Software joined P21 in 2012, and is the largest provider of educational materials and technology solutions to PreK-12 libraries, classrooms, learning centers and school districts in the United States, and a major supplier to educational institutions worldwide.

P21 is proud to continue its collaborative work to engage leaders in education, business, and policy, as well as the 17 partnership states to help prepare students to lead and succeed in 21st century work, life, and citizenship.  .
